Brooklyn Workshop Re-cap

Almost two years ago I sat in a café with a very well know blogger and her assistant.  I shared with them my dreams of having a workshop that was different from what other people were offering.  I wanted it to look and feel like home for people.  I wanted people to find their true voice and not be afraid of themselves or other people.  I wanted people to see their business for what it truly uniquely could be.  We live in a society where we compare to others far too often.  We look to other people to gauge if our ideas are worthy enough.  We enter into a rat race for clients and ideas we were never meant to join.  We de-value our purpose by looking to people for acceptance.  I have big news, what makes you unique is what will drive your craft to success.

The woman that sat next to me said “Why would people come see you?  What do you have to offer? You’re not particularly well known, so what are you bringing to the table that other people aren’t already?”  I simply replied “I’m damn good at what I do and I know that other people can be too, if they don’t worry about things like you’ve mentioned.”   I told her “I do everything differently than other people and I have a fierce love for peoples hearts.”

Sometimes when you know you are different, and you embrace it, its the one thing that has the ability to make you soar.  That thing inside you that makes you unique was placed in you to affect change.  Rustic Joyful Food is a movement affecting change in the way people do business.  We are changing the way people see themselves first.  We are telling people that the art doesn’t really matter until you love who you are.  The pie is big enough, there are clients for you, if you’d just be who you really are.  In a fast paced ever changing society that demands something different almost hourly its impossible to satisfy when you are chasing an idea of who you ought to be rather than doing what comes naturally to who you are.

Two weeks ago I sat in a meeting in NYC with people that could potentially change my path and they asked me what makes me different?  Special?  I replied, I am completely utterly myself doing what comes naturally to me, I know that if I am always myself first I will never fail, its impossible to be anything by me.  I make rustic, messy, flavorful & simple food.  In a world that tells you everyone else is better, I’m pretty happy with me.   As long as I stay true to what comes naturally to me I will always be successful.   I am showing people through Rustic Joyful Food about their worth and its pretty fantastic.

Brooklyn was a game changing point in our career.  We set out to do something different half a world from home and it went off beautifully.  15 people joined us from all over the country and we ate and laughed and talked technique and business.  We shot dish after dish and had people style their own food.  I am still beaming from the success that was had and the friendships made.  I would love for you to be a part of our next workshop on Oct 23rd at 11 am in Seattle, WA register in our shop!
