What does it mean to cultivate something?  It simply means to prepare, to grow, to break things up, carefully.  There are steps you need to learn to grow, and sometimes growing causes a little upheaval — and it should!  If you want to cultivate something you must get to the heart of the matter.

At my workshops, we teach you what we know — we know people and we know good food.  Of course, Michael is a dang talented commercial photographer, so that really helps!  We teach you how to use the light in every sense of the word so that you might grow your own business or hobby into something you are not only proud of but something that feeds your creativity and (to risk sounding cheesy) to pay your bills.

I’ve had the privilege of building a successful business with Michael, and as winter comes to a close we are determined to welcome spring with a new attitude and cultivate only what we love this year.  We want the same for you.  We will go over marketing yourself and how to grow, how to get inspired, and — spoiler alert — it’s not by comparing yourself to other people!  We are so pleased to partner with KROGER to bring you this workshop.

FAQ

1) Do I have to be a photographer or stylist to attend?

No, not at all. We actually have had everyone from established photographers and stylists to stay-at-home moms or chefs looking to get inspired.

2) What if I am an established photographer or blogger? Is this going to benefit me?

I think that if we ever stop learning we stop growing.  I know that Michael has got answers to your gear or lighting questions, and I also know that there is something to be said for stepping out and meeting new people in our field.  The more you know…

3) I am an iPhone shooter, is that ok?

Yes, bring your phone and we can teach you a few things!

4) Will we go over website platforms and how you garner jobs?

Yes!

5) Should I bring my DSLR?

Absolutely!  This is hands-on and FUN! If you don’t have a camera, that’s perfectly ok, too!

6) I eat a special diet.  Will there be anything for me to enjoy?

Email me with your dietary needs and I can make sure you have something special to partake of. Because I cook using only real, fresh foods chances are you can enjoy almost everything.  If you don’t do gluten, we can make sure none ends up in your lunch.  Same with dairy, etc….

Michael and I work for some amazing clients, producing content for web, magazines, cookbooks, and major corporations!  We started our own publishing company and we publish and produce our own books.  I work on television, teaching people tips and tricks on how to become better cooks!  We are small and mighty, and when doors close we find windows to our dreams.  I love to tell people that Rustic Joyful Food is a product of a broken dream.  One thing in our lives that didn’t work out gave way to this beautiful mess of creativity.

To those who attend the workshop, we’d be honored to spend the day cooking, eating, shooting, and honing your skills so we can turn you loose on 2018, renewed and hopefully a little more equipped!  There are spots for 15 attendees. Visit here to register!  You can also register by visiting our shop in the drop down menu on the home page!

We cant wait to see you!
